No more getting locked out,
These are a breeze to install. If you’ve already got a Schlage handle you can swap out this for the existing one without having to change the mortise hardware AT ALL. Just remove the old handles and put these in it’s place. That’s what I did on three of my doors, it literally took no more than 10 minutes to do the job.
From a usability standpoint they’re excellent. You lock the door as usual from the inside by turning the knob to a horizonal (-) position. The outside handle won’t open the door unless you enter the code. It automatically re-locks the door in a few seconds. If you leave the inside lock knob in the vertical (|) position then it, of course, stays unlocked. To unlock you just press the (schlage) button on the keypad (this lights the keypad) and enter the code. The lock makes a slight ‘snik’ noise and it’s unlocked. Once you close the door it automatically locks again.
No more walking out the back door to empty the trash and get myself locked out. Now I can just tap in the code.
These are very well made. They’re a good bit heavier grade than the regular Schlage ones I removed. But they fit right into the same opening in the door. Is this convenience worth the price? Seeing as I how picked mine up at 40% during the Expo Center closing sale, I’d have to say “of course!” But even at regular street prices these are excellent quality lock sets (for residential stuff). The keypad convenience is a price premium, but well worth it the first time you walk out in the cold, in bare feet, without your keys…

|other reviewer right… good but cheaper at Lowes,
I got this and put it on my door and it worked well. I wanted two like it for my other two exterior doors so read the reviews more thoroughly. Found one suggested getting same product at Lowes where it not only costs less but if you want them all keyed alike for the emergency key when key pad may not work, you can get it keyed alike.
I bought my next two there and had them keyed to this one. While there I asked if the lock is really tamper resistant and the locksmith at Lowes said NOT as it is very easy to break into or unlock the door with bump key. All you need to have is the right shape key for bumping. If you live in an area that requires tamper resistant, if you like this style of entry so you also can use a key pad, investigate possibility of replacing the key entry with something by Medco. They do make some replacement cores and keys that fit some of the Schlage locks so may be. I have not done so and have not yet placed the last entry onto my front door which is the most exposed. Probably will go ahead with it but just be aware there could be issues so may be have a bolt (as I do) for security beyond the keyed entry on this product.

|Great Product,
My wife wanted one of these locks and talked me into buying one. Since then I have purchaced 10 more of this type of Schlege locks. Everyone who sees or uses it wants one. I had one on a summer house I sold and that gentleman bought this lock for his other house. We gave one to each of our 3 kids and they love them. I bought one for a friend who drove 6 hours to his vacation home in Maine and locked himself out and had to break a window.
These locks look good, program easily, and are very convenient. You can add and subtract codes at any time. My only warning is if you buy one you’ll want more if you have multiple doors you use on a regular basis. Also, you can buy this lock at Lowes for the same price as on line.
